Southmead Hospital
Bristol
Location: Bristol, UK
Practice: Building Design Partnership
Budget: £730m
Completion: 2014
New build £430m hospital in Bristol.
The new building houses the acute and community facilities for the wider Bristol area. The design is focused around providing a higher proportion of single occupancy rooms whilst maximising light and ventilation both to key public routes and the individual rooms.
The building is designed to achieve BREEAM 'Excellent' rating with a carbon footprint below Government targets.
As part of a large team, I worked as an assistant to carry out detailed drawings for the hospital facade focusing on cost, buildability, energy efficiency, fire and acoustic properties.
